From Metal to Americana music, Kristen Castro, an Indie Artist, crosses all genres It was her performance as a guest guitarist with Keith Urban in 2010 that introduced her to Country and Americana music which led to her move to Nashville. Kristen is a singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer, originally from Simi Valley, CA and a former founding and performing member of the trio known as Maybe April from 2012-2018. During the past 10 years she has maintained partnerships with Taylor Guitars, Elixir Strings and Timber Tones picks. In 2012, she was featured as a guitarist and songwriter on VEVO’s web series “You Play Like a Girl” As the primary instrumentalist in her former band, she has traveled and performed throughout the U.S. and has appeared on a variety of publications including Billboard, Paste Magazine, CMT, and Audiotree. Through the GRAMMY Foundation, her trio shared the stage with music icons Bonnie Raitt, Kris Kristofferson, Gavin DeGraw , Valerie Simpson and many others, and played Pilgrimage Festival, IBMA, Folk Alliance, and opened for Brandy Clark, Sarah Jarosz, and Radney Foster. She credits her producer skills and much of her musicianship to mentors Matt Bissonette (bassist for Elton John, David Lee Roth) and Sergio Gonzalez (drummer to such artists as Jennifer Lopez and Gavin DeGraw). Her love for all things music, especially the electric guitar, acoustic guitar, mandolin, bass and keys has added to her continued desire to transcend all sorts of barriers through music.
